“I love the shoes you’re wearing,” he told a woman who was wearing TOMS, without identifying himself. It was the first time he’d seen someone, other than friends and family, wearing a pair of TOMS shoes. MANNkind, a service group at Mann Elementary School in Oak Park, donated more than 17,000 pencils to the Forrest City School District in Arkansas. Kristi Ross, a District 97 parent who works with the group, said some of the basic items more well-off districts might take for granted, like school supplies, are a necessity for other students."
