Oak Park students donate the gift of writing — Oak Park & River Forest news, photos and events — TribLocal.com: "Cash and food charity drives are commonplace, but Oak Park students donated some items that are probably overlooked — pencils.

MANNkind, a service group at Mann Elementary School in Oak Park, donated more than 17,000 pencils to the Forrest City School District in Arkansas. Kristi Ross, a District 97 parent who works with the group, said some of the basic items more well-off districts might take for granted, like school supplies, are a necessity for other students."
